Film and TV composer Kepa Lehtinen releases new single

Finland-based film and TV composer Kepa Lehtinen releases new single “16mm”  Taken from the upcoming album It Is OK To Be Sad And Dark, “16mm” is a somber and hypnotic ballad performed on theremin, piano, and double bass captured with a gritty noir-inspired sound that represents the attainment of a major artistic goal for Lehtinen. “I have chased this sound for a long time,”he says, “retro but ultra hi-fi, the dark sound of the past modernized. The sonic equivalent of the way 16mm movies look.”

Listen to the new song here

The theremin is a unique electronic instrument which produces sound when your hands interact with the electro-magnetic field it emits without actually touching the device itself. It was invented in the labs of KGB  by Russian engineer Leon Theremin in the early 1920s. Letinen’s previous theremin piece “Kontula” has been streamed almost 500,000 times on Spotify and “16mm” will again bring the unusual, violin-like instrument to a large, modern audience.

Kepa Lehtinen was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1971 and began studying music in childhood, eventually learning to play piano, synthesizers, theremin, and drums. He went on to study Sound Design at Finland’s Aalto University and has since written music for many films, commercials, and TV productions. He routinely works as a composer, sound editor, and sound designer. His work has appeared in award-winning Finnish titles such as Kimmo (TV series),  Almost 18 (feature film), and A Stone LeftUnturned (short film). He released his first solo album, Playing Theremin, in 2018. In 2019 he released Helsinki in November.

A lyrical song of contradictions with a musical electronic style to match.  Using a funk beat mixed with live Latin percussion, female vocals float on top with crazy high harmonies, a big pre chorus and hook.  The love story speaks of removing all barriers to find each other in the highest, deepest love. Perfect rhythms for high energy dance floors. Live conga’s give this track a latin dance feel.  The video was shot in Las Vegas with aerial views of the Strip, High Roller and street scenes of the city that never sleeps, playing off the song’s theme “climbing down into you.”

The Triple Talent…. Kenton Hall..

Triple Talented Kenton Hall author, musician and actor~  He was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan – the sunshine capital of his home country – but now lives and works in the United Kingdom where his disposition makes more sense. From 2000 until 2010 he was the lead singer and lyricist for the band ‘ist’ who released three critically acclaimed albums before breaking up due to musical amnesia. in 2015, he wrote and directed the feature film “A Dozen Summers” and in 2018, his first play “The Public Interest”. Bisection is his first full-length prose work. But watch out….  He is threatening a follow-up More music is also on the horizon for Kenton, with his first solo album, “Idiopath” – building on the themes of Bisection – currently being recorded.

Check out Ist last album

About the book… Bisection: Since childhood, Canadian author Kenton Hall has fought a battle with bipolar disorder. At the moment, they’re calling it a draw, but they’ve both taken the round on more than one occasion. In the interim, he also escaped a cult, became a father to twins – eventually a single father to twins – and pursued a career as a writer, actor and musician.  No one is claiming he makes things easy on himself.

Bisection is not your average book about mental health. It is the story of one man, two children and bipolar disorder – a funny, heart-breaking, fierce and hopeful book that dares to find humour in the darkest places – and shed enough light to lift their shadows.  Imagine Douglas Adams wrote a book about mental health. Then imagine Douglas Adams was shorter and more regularly moose adjacent. That’s Bisection!

You can find the book on Amazon and other book selling sites.

Country POP ROCK.. introducing Angela Gayle!

Country POP ROCK artist Angela Gayle is following in the footsteps of Anne Murray, Olivia Newton-John, Miley Cyrus where  her vocal prowess stands out from your every day usual lick song. This singer, songwriter, actress, model puts forth music that  is full of passion and soul stirring tones. Her raw emotions are ever present throughout her lyrical storytelling that comes through as a rock ballad.  She is on the Rise to the Top of The Pops!

Her 2 songs In Her Own Words:  Have You Told Her….. is an upbeat song about a guy who was cheating on me behind my back. Then, it turns out that the girl he ended up with was worse of a cheater than him. Anyway, after we broke up, while he was with this girl, he was still calling me, trying to get back together. So, the song is kind of telling that story.  Then…. Love Yourself… a story about my father leaving when I was very young and my mother taught me not to seek love from men, but to learn to love myself and it would find me. Then as an adult, I met a man that was bad for me and because of what my mother taught me, I was able to let him go.

Angela was born in Nashville, Tennessee. She grew up in a small, rural town where she led a very humble childhood. She comes from a line of family musicians. Her mother and grandmother played instruments and were heavily involved in their church choirs. Angela’s dad played the trumpet and guitar. Angela began her music experience at the age of 4, where she began piano lessons, as well as vocal lessons. By age ten, Angela had learned how to play the flute. By the age of 13, Angela was in the studio, recording covers of some of her musical inspirations such as Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey.

Angela played piano and was a vocalist in a jazz band at age 13. The band traveled around Nashville and Memphis performing live. Throughout her high school years, Angela excelled vocally, winning various state and national singing competitions, as well as songwriting awards. Angela’s music career was coupled with formal acting lessons. She performed in various community theater projects, playing lead roles and singing.

Angela has performed as the opening act for the Professional Hockey team, the Nashville Predators, and for the NFL team, the Tennessee Titans, singing the national anthem on numerous occasions. She has also performed on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, and the Ryman Auditorium, among other places.

At age 15, Angela was discovered by a well renowned international model agency, and began work as a professional model She was also taking acting classes, attended a professional acting school, and worked in several television commercials and music videos.

Angela eventually had to take a break from the entertainment industry to continue her education. Angela graduated with a double Bachelor’s degree and then eventually went to graduate school and obtained a Doctorate degree in law. Now that Angela has completed her education, she is back on the music scene. She is a country/pop artist who writes and performs her own music.

While she plays several instruments, Angela has a focus on the piano and the guitar and is influenced and inspired by the sounds of artists such as Etta James, Patsy Cline, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, NSYNC and Jennifer Lopez, just to name a few.

Merry Bloody Xmas!

From British purveyor of retro faux horror soundtracks Kish Kollektiv, comes a new Yuletide release…

It’s amazing how many people see Christmas as a nightmare that must be endured, even without supernatural shenanigans, serial killers and marauding gremlins – tense encounters with in-laws, disruption to one’s routine, the stress of coordinating social and family events and sky-high costs have a horror all of their own.

In the Northern Hemisphere at least, it can be quite an eerie time of year…short days and long nights, frost glistening in cold moonlight, snow covered landscapes…or more typically in the damp and dreary UK, endless periods of gloom, overcast skies, mist and drizzle…

There’s a tradition of festive-themed horror fiction, at least dating back to the Victorian era and Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” but it was perhaps in the last few decades of the 20th century that Christmas-themed tales of terror really came into their own on the big screen.

It was mainly from the 1980s that I drew my inspiration for “Moonlight Slay Ride”, a time of films like “To All a Goodnight”, “Christmas Evil”, “Silent Night, Deadly night” and its sequels and (perhaps the greatest festive horror movie of the decade) “Gremlins”. It was also a time when low-budget synthesizer scores were the go-to option for independent film makers.

See this as the main theme of a mid-80s holiday horror film that doesn’t exist in our timeline but perhaps does in the “reality next door”…

Jingle Jangle and Happy Holidays!

Christmas music inspirations come from all different places  for each of these amazing indie artist each story is different, some are inspirational and some are just ting jingle ling there it is~!

For Americana Southern Rock Indie Artist Mandy Rowden it was a Jingle Jangle Experience!

I wrote this in a hotel room in Durango, CO on Christmas Day, 2016. My boyfriend and I went as a last minute respite from the chaos that was going on personally and nationally, and I talked a little bit about our drive through West Texas and New Mexico and how great it was to be there and let go of the tough stuff for a moment and look forward to the ‘clean slate’ feeling of a new year.

Take a listen to this Holiday Tune  and Watch the Music Video

For country singer Rob Georg  it was for all those in military service who won’t be home for the holiday

The inspiration and heartfelt holiday message behind it all: ”It was in spring 2019 when Kristin K. Smith and Rob Georg asked themselves the following question: Does the world need another Christmas Song? After weighing up the pros and cons for some days, the answer was a clear yes. But it had to be something different, their plan was to think out of the box when starting this special project.

They came up with the idea to write this song out of a soldier’s perspective, far away from home, on foreign ground, missing his or her loved ones and dreaming of being home for celebrating Christmas together with them.

Writer, producer and vocal coach Kristin K. Smith had an ace up her sleeve. She asked no other than Corey Lee Barker, NACMAI songwriter of the year 2012, to join the project and give his incredibly skillful Christmas Song talent into the song.

The team worked for several weeks and came up with a totally different Christmas Song in the end. A song, that delivers a Christmas feel on one hand, but also includes a “Thanks for your service” vibe on the other, honoring the women and men in uniform, who sacrifice so much, sometimes everything, to protect our freedom.

Though the 3 writers know that their Christmas Wish will not be fulfilled for every soldier, they do hope that as many modern day heroes as possible may have a peaceful Christmas at home with their families and friends. And for all the others, who will not make it home for the holidays, stay safe and have a Merry Christmas, wherever you are. And for those who gave everything, we will never forget!

Maybe you can also invite a veteran to join you and your family for having dinner on Christmas Eve. We owe them a lot, we owe them our freedom, we owe them that we can celebrate in peace, make them part of it, it’s Christmas, it’s the time to show love and to give back.

Merry Christmas!”

EDM Dance Artist and children’s Book Author Kim Cameron the heartfelt Holiday songs

The original song, My  Memories of Christmas, Kim says  it was a dedication to my mother who always made Christmas time so special.  It paints a picture of my Christmas’s growing up. The others are remakes of holiday classics…and I did that because I love love love love Christmas!

If you took Depeche Mode, Yazz, Ministry (post DM sound) with some Nitzer Eb added in you get MEGALMODAS,  the mash up of industrial, Electronica and Goth Rock/Post Wave styles is reminiscent of the late 80’s Early 90’s music. The Music is an  aggressive edged retro vibed instrumental with echoing lyrical additions encompass each track put out by this German based artist. A sound that is a union of KrautRock and Electronic Body Music, something that isn’t the usual lick that is so commonly heard now.

Put best by MEGALMODAS his “inspiration behind the music ” – My first big music love was Depeche Mode and I always wanted to merge “traditionell” hand made music with electronic instruments. Like Ministry, Rammstein and KMFDM are doing. But I’m also more a “softy” and like Pop Music (I’m a child of the 80’s …), so my music usually never gets that hard, even though I venture sometimes into the industrial Metal Realm, it is mostly (Gothic) Rock and Darkwave.

For me this is so liberating, after playing for over 25+ years bass guitar and singing in “traditionell” Punk, Pop, Hard-Rock and Metal Bands, to finally make the music I want to do.

The start of this whole thing was rather sad though. As I could not find any people who wanted to play with me this kind of music, I started all by myself and needed to sit down for a few years to learn how electronic music is made, as I only knew how to play “real” instruments (bass guitar/guitar/drums). This took me a few years, and you can hear in my early releases my struggle with it …

Two years ago I finally found someone, “Bionel” who shares my vision and we started to rehearse together to get the music out of the rehearsal space. Bionel (aka Nele) plays the violin, the synth, the theremin and also sings. She is quite an addition and we had 4 gigs so far this year, even on a small festival  The response has been thus far very positive. After playing for years my music just to myself I really had no idea anymore how people would react …

It is a bit aided by our “Showmanship” as I love the stage and have been in movies, TV Shows and a few music videos. Here are just a few quite different ones, where I play a small role (I’m mostly the villain as I can look quite imposing if I want to …)

Leo Hook Keeps Giving Love

New music from Leo Hook   La La La La Love….  Something different continues to come from this amazing musician everytime he puts something out . Leo brings the best music out of Eastern Europe that has yet been heard by the West, a distinct and unique from Belarus, a mysterious electronic driven Eurodance!

Leo says on this one.. Just drums, bass and guitar. Neither lyrics nor good melody, nothing special, I just tried to find something to make it alive. Suddenly I’ve caught a drive when I was playing with some singing and voice pitching in my DAW. Since I am a big lover of all real things and real relationships, I didn’t think long on the lyrics. It came by itself, this song has to be about a situation that happens to every family. In the original language of the song, the chorus line is a little bit different but also has a unique drive.  And my goal was not to just make a happy song but translate my happiness at that moment to the song. IMHO I’ve done it well.

Not much for too many words,  Leo is right to the point when it comes to his music journey and life. Best put by himself :

1965 -was born, 1971 – enter a music school, fell in love, 1972 enter school, fell in love, 1982 finished school and entered university, fell in love, 1983 – started army, 1985 retired from the army, fell in love, 1990 get marriage, 1991 get my first son, 1993 just fell in love, 1998 I went into Bahrain, 2000 – I met my second and, I hope, the last wife, fell in love, 2003 get my second son, 2007 – stop working in Bahrain, 2010 released my first album, 2012 again went to Bahrain, 2015 left Bahrain, 2019 I started distribution on TuneCore and collaboration with Al Geiner~PR, nowadays – still alive, in love, working, happy!
